Scholarship

The Malton Black Development Association seeks to award Youth Scholarships to high students who have excelled academically and have performed voluntary community services and activities. We also award Adult Scholarships for Academic advancement and merit contributions to the community. Residents of Malton are prioritized, however all students of colour in the Peel Region are welcome to apply.

For 2023 we were able to administer 6 Youth Scholarships and 1 Adult Scholarship, a total of $10500, $1500 each.

Scholarship Awards

The award amount varies each year depending on the scholarship fund and the allocations determined by Association and the approval of the Board of Directors. We endeavour to raise funds throughout the year to supplement the award and facilitate the granting of scholarship(s).

Scholarship recipient(s) will be invited to accept their award(s) at the Association’s Annual Dinner and Awards Presentation.

HOW TO REGISTER?

Youth Scholarship Registration

The recipient must:

Between 17 and 25 years of age.
provide evidence of their academic excellence.
Accepted or enrolled at a college or university for the ensuing year.
Demonstrate financial need
submit application forms to the committee on the prescribed form, along with the accompanying documents.

Adult Scholarship Registration

The recipient must:

Over 25 years old.
Accepted or enrolled at a college or university for the ensuing year.
Demonstrate financial need.
Provide information on their community voluntary services.
