With the global economy changing, we must proactively prepare our youth (particularly Black and racialized youth) by increasing their interest in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) outside the classroom.
To address the growing demand for STEM programs we have joined with the Rotary Club Mississauga-Malton to provide programs for Black students in grades 3 to 6 in Malton-Peel. The program will cover all areas of STEM through theme/project-based learning that involves knowledge building, hands-on application, and problem-solving. Students will have opportunities to learn from and interact with professionals from the field as well
This camp will run five times a week (Monday through Friday) during the summer months for three weeks. Sessions will start at 9:00am and end at 4:00pm. Upon completion of the program, a recognition ceremony will be held.
Each class has a maximum capacity of 25 students.
Our long-term goal is to extend these throughout the year.
